Experiencing the magic of dance. Some of our 200 youth beneficiaries waiting for the curtains to rise on Ballet Philippines’ Paglalakbay through the incredible Share The Magic program.
Welcome to our June 2026 Bi-Annual Update!
To give our global family a complete look at what your support has achieved this year, we have broken our mid-year update into three distinct chapters.
Missed Chapter 1? If you didn’t receive our printed mailer or want to revisit the grassroots impact of our theater, sports, and art programs, you can (Read Chapter 1: The Heart of Our Youth here).
Below, our story continues as we pull back the curtain on our international milestones and long-term sustainability plans.
Chapter 2: The Power of Collaboration (National & International Alliances)
Sharing the Magic: Pag-asa Youth Embark on a Cultural Journey
True education expands beyond textbooks and classrooms; it awakens the soul through creativity and storytelling. This past May, a group of 200 beneficiaries, including students, community volunteers, and the young artists of Teatro Pag-asa, traveled from Tagaytay to Metro Manila for an unforgettable experience at The Theatre at Solaire.
This cultural excursion was made possible through the incredible generosity of Ballet Philippines and their inspiring “Share The Magic” program, a beautiful initiative that Pag-asa has proudly partnered with since 2019.
Shattering Stereotypes Through Paglalakbay
For the vast majority of our youth, this marked their very first time witnessing a live ballet. While many imagine ballet as rigid, traditional European fairy tales, this groundbreaking production completely shattered those boxes. By blending classical technique with grounded movements and rich cultural symbols, such as traditional Ivatan headpieces and the iconic tataya vessels, the performance told deeply moving Austronesian stories.
Our children walked away with profound life lessons etched into their hearts:
- Cultural Identity: Discovering that migration is not merely displacement, but a shared human search for home and community.
- Resilience & Roots: Understanding the vital importance of living in harmony with nature and drawing strength from one’s origins.
- Compassion: Witnessing how understanding and forgiveness can heal fractured communities.
Caring for little smiles one checkup at a time. A look back at the meaningful collaboration between Pag-Asa and the University of the Philippines Dental Health Brigade.
A snapshot of pure selflessness in action. Doctor Thomas taking time out of his March 2026 itinerary to spend a dedicated day treating patients at our dental clinic.
A Convergence of Care: UP Dental Health Brigade & The Rotary Club of Papenburg
True community transformation happens when local expertise meets global solidarity. We recently experienced a vibrant day of health and partnership at our center when the prestigious University of the Philippines Dental Health Brigade (UP DHB) arrived alongside our longtime international partner, Dr. Thomas Mrosk of the Rotary Club of Papenburg (Germany).
Deploying a dedicated team of 20 volunteers and 2 faculty advisers, the UP brigade transformed our space into an active hub of care, delivering vital oral health education, distributing hygiene kits, and providing preventive treatments to approximately 50 of our children.
Coincidentally, Dr. Thomas Mrosk was visiting to coordinate the Papenburg chapter’s active participation in our grand 30th Anniversary celebration on January 9, 2027. True to his spirit of selfless service, Dr. Mrosk didn’t just attend administrative meetings; he rolled up his sleeves to provide high-quality dental care alongside the UP clinicians, while also observing our local Filipino student-dentists meticulously care for our beneficiaries.
The UP Dental Health Brigade was so moved by our children and our structured environment that they are already eagerly coordinating a second medical mission with us for later this year!

Building Bridges: International Guests from Hong Kong Visit Pag-asa
The world grew a little smaller and much brighter recently when we welcomed a special delegation of 25 international visitors from Hong Kong, led by Theresa Lumo Kung and Andrew Tong. The group traveled to Tagaytay to learn about Pag-asa’s holistic community programs and spend quality time with our beneficiaries.
The day was filled with cross-cultural exchanges, laughter, and shared stories. Before bidding farewell, the delegation generously provided a monetary donation to support our ongoing operations, alongside a wonderful assortment of snacks for the children.
The connection was so strong that Andrew Tong is already organizing another group for a follow-up visit this coming October, with many members expressing a deep interest in becoming sustained supporters of the foundation!
